How Things Move
Lessons
- Motion Is a Trail of Dots (5 min): Position is where something is along a line, measured from a fixed zero.
- Speed: Metres per Second (7 min): Speed = distance ÷ time. Metres divided by seconds gives metres per second, m/s.
- Position-Time Graphs (7 min): A position-time graph puts time across and position up: the whole trip in one line.
- Velocity Has a Direction (7 min): Distance is every metre you travel. It only grows.
- Acceleration: Changing Velocity (7 min): Acceleration is how much the velocity changes each second: change in velocity ÷ time.
- Velocity-Time Graphs: Slope and Area (7 min): A velocity-time graph puts time across and speed up.
- Falling: Everything Drops the Same (7 min): Without air, everything falls the same way, heavy or light. Air is what slows a feather.
- The Reaction Ruler (7 min): From rest, the distance fallen is d = ½ g t²: the area of the triangle under the speed graph.
- Sideways and Down: Two Motions at Once (7 min): Something launched sideways is a projectile: it moves sideways and falls at the same time.
- Project: Cliff Shot (8 min): To plan a sideways shot: fall time from the height first, then speed = distance ÷ time.
