Where AI Already Is
What you will learn
- Most AI has no chat box. It hides inside apps and makes predictions: is this your face, what will you watch, which word comes next.
- The test: does it guess from patterns it learned from data? Then it is AI. A fixed rule, like a calculator or a timer, is not.
- Every prediction also leaves a data trail. Some stays on your device, a lot goes to the company, and it shapes the next prediction.
How the lesson goes
A normal Tuesday for Maya, 15. In how many of these 10 moments does an AI decide something?
She never opened a chatbot today. Make a bet with the marker, then Check.
Find the AI. Tap every moment where a machine makes a prediction.
Ask of each one: is it guessing from patterns, or following a fixed rule?
A prediction is a guess from patterns in data: whose face, which video, which word. The alarm, the calculator and the microwave never guess. They do exactly what they were set to do.
AI or a fixed rule? Sort 8 more gadgets.
Drag each one into a lane. A fixed rule gives the same result to the same input every time.
AI handles messy inputs no one can write exact rules for: voices, photos, tastes. Fixed rules handle exact inputs: a button, a coin, a sum.
What the seven have in common.
Each AI moment makes a prediction: a guess about something it can't know for sure. Is this her face? Will she watch this?
The guess comes from a model that learned patterns from lots of examples, like the spam filter you trained in the first course.
A fixed rule gives the same answer to the same input and learns nothing. A calculator is not AI.
Every prediction leaves something behind.

Speed round: AI or rule?
Send each card left or right. Get 8 right before you lose 3 hearts.
Now your day. Tap every moment that's part of your normal day.
Check builds your card. The ones with AI inside light up.
